Medical Labots

Robotics is a interdisciplinary field involving computer science and engineering. Medical Laboratories have seen an increase in the use of automation and artificial intelligence for most blood testing procedures. Biomedical engineers are looking for ways to make boring and repetitive tasks done by humans to be replaced by medical labots. These robots in the medical laboratory could use data from patients' blood to make diagnoses. This would eliminate the need for a Doctor since 70% of the data used for diagnoses comes from Medical Laboratories. The future looks promising in the eyes of most engineers who continue to search for solutions for the greatest problems in this world. Medical Labots will rely heavily on biomimicry and other forms of biotech to achieve its goals.
With the use of mechatronics and computer engineering, the future of Medical Labots is bright. All data from Medical Laboratories will be strictly collected, analysed, engineered, processed and reported via machines. Thus, revolutionizing healthcare.

Medical or Industrial Biomanufacturing

Using biology to manufacture useful products has been just an idea for many scientists and engineers for years. Now this idea is a reality since fungi and bacteria are now being used to make cement, detergents, and plastics thus revolutionizing many industries. Bioengineers are doing a lot of research to make these micro-organisms genetically programmable in order to enhance their functions in biomanufacturing. Medical Laboratories have used biotechnology to make amino acids, biopharmaceuticals, cytokines and vaccines such the one for COVID-19. The operations of these biomanufacturing plants include the use of techniques such as cell culture, column chromatography, and ultrafiltration.

Biotechnology and genetic engineering could revolutionize not only medicine and agriculture but also construction and many other industries. This is gene-editing technology controlling your house, car, furniture and your whole life.

Autobots, roll out

This is the catchphrase of Optimus Prime from the science fiction movie called Transformers. This catchphrase is being realized more and more daily with the advancements in autonomous car technology. Car companies are rapidly transitioning into robotics companies which will roll out Autobots like in Transformers. Artificially Intelligent cars on Earth won't be sentient autobots from Cybertron but they will be semi-sentient, driverless cars that anyone can own. Data scientists and other machine learning engineers are using different algorithms in computer vision and other forms of tech to make this fiction into fact.

Medical Laboratories will use these autobots as labs on wheels. This will change the mobile phlebotomy industry into medical robots that drive to patients' homes and offices to provide phlebotomy services.

Biological Bricks

A house built with living concrete sounds impossible to most persons. However engineers have been able to create living concrete made from photosynthetic cyanobacteria called synechococcus. This could one day reduce the environmental impact of the construction industry. The team of researchers including Wil Srubar combined the bacteria with gelatin, sand and nutrients in a liquid mixture, then place it in a mould. Heat and sunlight is then applied resulting in the bacteria producing calcium carbonate crystals around the sand particles. This process is similar to how seashells are formed on the seashore. The advantage of biological bricks is that if the bacteria isn't dehydrated entirely, they continue to grow.

This process has the potential to be done in Medical Laboratories to create medical real estate using energy intensive concrete that is more environmentally friendly because of its reliance on photosynthesis. Concrete is the second most consumed material on earth after water. Using biotechnology and bacteria that grow exponentially, the construction industry can theoretically move from linear manufacturing to exponential manufacturing.

Products from Genetic Engineering

Genetics will shape the final invention of the human race. The final race towards the apocalypse is between artificial intelligence and genetics. Genetic engineering is the manipulation of organisms to make useful products. Humans have used selective breeding in animals for thousands of years. Microorganisms were also studied and bioengineers realised their abilities to carry out commercially useful processes. Microbes are used for the manufacturing of vaccines and antibiotics. Biotechnology refers to the use of gene manipulation combined with material sciences, nanotechnology and computer software to create products. Pregnancy tests have been developed using biotechnology labs. Other products from genetic engineering has made it easier to detect and diagnose diseases.

Genetic engineering has been used in Medical Laboratories to produce insulin, human growth hormones, follistim, human albumin, monoclonal antibodies and antihemophilic factors. Genetics is also used for creation of genetically modified organisms or crops in agriculture.
