The overlap of Big Pharma and Diagnostics is in the field of chemistry. Let us retrace history to the advent of modern pharmaceuticals and diagnostics. Modern pharmaceuticals began with the extraction of morphine from opium poppy plants while modern diagnostics began with analyzing chemicals in urine. The major overlap of these two industries is chemistry. Doctors use morphine to treat severe pain and it is still used for that purpose in hospitals today. Urine dipsticks are still used by Doctors to make chemical analyses of urine easier and quicker which speeds up the diagnoses of patients.  However, the new era of technological revolution will be based on the chemistry of life: DNA. The future of the internet is the metaverse. This is where we can all teleport into Medical Laboratories all over the world and carry out procedures not available in your physical space. Biomedical Engineers will no longer need to travel to use a chemistry analyzer, they can simply own one in the metaverse. This idea supports decentralized, persistent online 3-D virtual environments which will be available through smartphones and laptops. Its infrastructure requires connectivity based on the use of a network of servers powered by computers.

You can change your IQ, Eye Color, Height, Weight, Skin Color and Texture, Hair Color and Texture, and/or your health by programming your biology. Instead of programming computers which we do now in the software revolution, we will be programming our biology in the living software revolution. The Medical Laboratory has a major role in the creation of this final TECH which is YOU. Genetics and Molecular Diagnostics is the fastest growing discipline of Laboratory Medicine and has the potential to create the most advanced form of technology that the human race will ever experience.

Biology is Nanotechnology

Biological systems operate using nanotechnology. The cell (plant and/or animal) is inherently nano in scale hence nanotechnology has to merge with biology. In order for molecular engineering of nanomachines to be possible then we have to view nanotechnology as biology. Smaller than nano is pico and femto-technology which are far below atoms and other elements of nature that are visible to the naked eye. In cellular biology, ATP synthesis and DNA replication are essential tasks of life which are done by nanites or molecular machines. Molecular machines can be divided into two broad categories: artificial and biological. Artificial molecular machines are molecules that are artificially designed and synthesized while biological molecular machines are molecules that are found in nature and have evolved after abiogenesis on Earth. The most complex macromolecular machines are found within cells, often in the form of multi-protein complexes. Examples of biological molecular machines include motor proteins such as myosin (for muscle contraction), kinesin (moves cargo inside cells away from the nucleus), dynein (moves cargo inside cells towards the nucleus). Examples of artificial molecular machines include molecular sensors, molecular switch, molecular shuttle, molecular propeller.

Molecular machines will play an integral role in genetic engineering and as a result will impact medical laboratories. This is a new form of bioengineering which could lead to the creation of synthetic plants and animals.

Many conspiracies surrounding Bio-Hax and Vax have led a lot of people to refuse the COVID-19 vaccine. It is actually another form of software revolution called the living software revolution.

Engineering life is the hardest task that any engineer will ever have. This is the final invention of the human race and Medical Laboratories will play a key role in making this engineering feat possible.

Biological and Software programming

Software programming is done by encoding zeroes and ones on microchips while biological programming is done by encoding the DNA of cells using A, G, T and C which are the building blocks of DNA. The next major technological revolution will not include computer software but will be biological software. DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software ever created. Our ability to engineer biology will solve major world problems such as the spread of disease, world hunger and climate change. The use of biological computation has the potential to transform medicine, agriculture and energy. Biological apps are being created to put the gene for a perfume scent from a plant into yeast. Hence, the perfume is produced from fermentation of the yeast instead of using plant extracts. Engineering biology will speed up the development of synthetic solutions to old problems. Some problems include manufacturing biofuels, engineering solar cells similar to how plants carry out photosynthesis or engineering viruses to act as biopesticides.

Medical Laboratories will be using genetic compilers in the future that make biological programming as safe and robust as traditional software programming.

Bio-plastics, fuels or fertilizers

Which industry will biology have the greatest impact? Life is the ultimate technology and engineering life can transform trillion dollar industries. Bioplastics are plastic materials produced from renewable biomass sources. These renewable biomass sources include vegetable fats and oils, corn starch, straw, woodchips, sawdust, recycled food waste, etc. On the other hand, fossil-fuel plastics are derived from petroleum or natural gas. Biofuel is fuel that is produced through biomass rather than through oil. Biomass such as wood can be used as fuel and involve carbon fixation, such as those which occur in plants via photosynthesis. Biofertilizers are living microbes which, when applied to seeds or soil, colonize the rhizosphere or interior of the plant and promotes growth by increasing the availability of nutrients to the host plant. This is how biotechnology can replace trillion dollar industries.

Once bioengineers can perform DNA programming on these living organisms then the possibilities are endless. Life is certainly the ultimate technology in this universe.
